Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Available for Adoption – Meet Benji! Looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts sweet, smart, and charming? Benji might just be your perfect match! This handsome pup is a loving and charismatic boy with stunning coloring, stoic poses, and a joyful attitude that’s sure to win hearts wherever he goes. Benji is gentle, easygoing, and playfully curious—always ready for a little fun and new adventures. He has a calm, respectful nature and greets everyone with a polite sit and a happy tail wiggle. Benji is: smart and eager to please, learning basic commands: come, sit, down, off, and leave it, currently working on stay and paw/shake, crate trained, progressing well with potty training, great with kids, cats, and other dogs. With his gentle spirit and friendly personality, Benji would thrive in just about any home environment. He’s ready to love and be loved! He has had a vet visit, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated - DHPP x 4, Rabies (when old enough), & Bordetella x 2. He’s had a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), two dewormings, and 2 fecal test. Adopters will receive all original paperwork, a 14-day health guarantee, a collar, harness, leash, seatbelt lock, and a week's worth of food. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are by appointment only. We are located in Mesa near Gilbert/Brown & offer flexible hours for meet-and-greet appointments. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
