Found as a stray in Mexico, Alfie was severely matted and clearly neglected. While we’ll never know what he’s been through, what we do know is that he deserves a safe, loving, and patient home more than anything. Alfie is very shy and skittish, and he’ll need time—and space—to decompress and feel safe. Because of this, we’re looking for an experienced, adult-only home with no small children. Alfie is considered a flight risk, so his future family must be extra cautious and prepared with secure containment and slow introductions. He does well with other respectful dogs and may benefit from having a confident canine friend to help show him the ropes. While Alfie is not a fit for senior adopters due to his specific behavioral needs, he is the kind of dog who will thrive in a quiet home with people who truly understand fearful dogs and are committed to going at his pace. Once he trusts you, his sweet and gentle side begins to shine.
