Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $400. My adoption fee is $250 which covers my annual distemper booster, rabies, and being spayed/neutered and microchipped. Meet Bailey! Bailey is a 10-month-old hound mix with a heart of gold and the sweetest soul. She absolutely lives for the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with furry siblings to show her the ropes. She’s also wonderful with kids and gentle with cats — the full package! Bailey is a happy girl at heart, always wagging her tail and soaking up love once she’s comfortable. But she can be timid in new environments and needs a patient, understanding family who can help her build confidence at her own pace. She’s especially shy around men, but she’s already making big strides with her foster dad and is starting to seek out his affection. With time, love, and a doggy buddy or two, Bailey will blossom into the loyal, joyful companion she’s meant to be.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
