Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Nillah (formerly known as Snuggles) is an 11--month-old female Terrier mix who must be spayed before adoption. She is a return adoption because her owner was starting school; her original shelter name was Snuggles because she was a precious, snuggly little puppy. Nillah has a solid white coat; and she has a black ear! This girl has beautiful eyes that you really can't see in her pictures. She weighs 35 pounds so she is a medium sized dog. Nillah is overwhelmed by the sights and sounds at the shelter. She is very timid, shy, and it takes her a moment to warm up to you. Nillah is very calm, well behaved, and walks nicely on a leash. She would be fine with children and other dogs. Nillah is a very nice dog who can't wait to find a home and a sweet owner. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
