Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Fenway is an 8-year-old Lab mix (DNA results pending!) who has mastered the art of being a gentleman with just the right amount of goofball charm. Weighing in at a compact 40 lbs, he’s the perfect size for snuggling on the couch or road tripping with his head resting on the center console, supervising every mile. After being shuffled around a bit before landing in his foster home, Fenway has shown remarkable resilience and sweetness. Once he feels safe and knows the house rules, his little tail starts wagging more and more each day—and his signature “Yoda ears” make it impossible not to smile. He’s a mellow, low-to-medium energy guy who is happiest lounging by your side, taking leisurely strolls, or napping through your Zoom calls. Fenway’s Highlights: House-trained? Absolutely. He’s a polite little man with impeccable indoor manners. Crate-trained? Technically, yes—but he'd much prefer to have free roam (and he’s earned that privilege). Leash skills? Getting there! He loves walks but occasionally gets sidetracked by a particularly intriguing smell. Dog-friendly? Fenway enjoys his personal space and would do best as the only dog in the home. He can mingle politely in busy public settings, but he appreciates not sharing his castle. People? Loves them! He’s friendly with both men and women, but like any distinguished gentleman, he prefers slow introductions and not being startled awake. Kids & Cats? Not yet tested, but he would thrive in a calm, quiet home without the hustle and bustle of young children or other pets. Quirks? He makes the funniest groany “songs” when he’s content, gives you his paw for love, and flops over for belly rubs like it’s his full-time job. He also has a unique “seal pose” when he tucks his front legs under himself—it's adorable and baffling. Fenway is motivated by love, snacks (especially salmon!), and belly rubs. He’s not one for toys, but squirrels? Now those are worth chasing. He’s an independent spirit but a fast learner, currently working on “wait” for dinner and “go home” for his crate during meals. A Few Things to Know: Fenway had a pretty nasty ear infection when he arrived, which understandably made him a little grumpy. Since starting treatment, he’s become noticeably more relaxed and affectionate. There is a mass in his ear that will be checked once the infection clears up (fingers crossed it’s nothing serious). Due to his past discomfort, he appreciates being approached gently, especially when he's sleeping or from his right side. He does get a little vocal when left alone but settles down for a nap eventually. Given time, love, and a predictable routine, Fenway will continue to blossom into the loyal, snuggly couch potato we know he is meant to be. Ideal Home: Fenway is searching for a calm, peaceful forever home with someone who will cherish his quiet companionship. He’ll thrive with someone who appreciates his mellow vibe, his hilarious quirks, and can give him the space and patience to continue building trust. If you’re looking for a laid-back, loyal buddy to keep you company for Netflix marathons and lazy Sunday mornings, Fenway might just be your guy. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.
