Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). **Hi there, I’m Tootsie!** I’m about 9 months old and they say I’m a terrier/pug mix — whatever that means, I just know I’m full of love, cuddles, and cuteness! I’m currently staying with a super nice foster family while I wait for my forever people to find me. I’ve met lots of other dogs and I love every single one of them — playing and snuggling are two of my favorite things. I’m also great with kids, and I’m told I have *very* good manners! During the day, I’m a total angel when my foster mom and dad are at work. If you keep me on a schedule, I won’t have any accidents. I promise I’m trying to be the best girl I can be! At night, I sleep in my crate. I might talk about it for a minute, but then I settle right in. I’d also be really happy sleeping next to someone — I’m an excellent little spoon. I’d love a home where I can keep being the happy, snuggly, well-behaved girl I am. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who’s good with dogs, kids, and loves to love — I might be your girl. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
