Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with love, laughter, and just one flip flop? Meet Nina, a darling senior lady with a joyful spirit and endless affection to give! Nina is described as "one of the most loving dogs" her foster family has ever met. She’s truly a family dog through and through who adores her people, and makes fast friends with everyone she meets. Whether you're her human or a total stranger, she’ll greet you like you’ve been best friends forever! Nina is housebroken, gentle, and well-behaved, and she rides great in the car—the perfect co-pilot for any adventure. Nina also gets along well with other dogs and has lived happily with canine buddies, but she is looking for a forever home without cats. Nina’s spunky side shines when squeaky toys or balls are involved, and she is such a fun playmate! One of her foster's favorite stories was when she saw a boy bouncing a ball and got so excited, she howled with glee and wanted to join in the fun. So her inner puppy is very much alive, and Nina is keeping her golden years very sunshine-y! When her foster parent comes home, Nina will grab a flip flop (always just one!) and trot over, tail wagging and whole body wiggling, ready for their evening walk—her favorite little ritual. So if you're looking for a sweet, silly, and affectionate best friend who will bring warmth and happiness into your life, Nina is your girl. Senior in age, but young at heart, she’s ready to fill your home with all of the love, and just the right amount of mischief. Ready to have your heart stolen by 60 lbs of pure joy? Please submit your application to adopt Nina! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
