Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Jasper was originally a Kansas native. Jasper is an Australian Cattle Dog - Shepard Mix. He was born on Christmas day in 2019. His original owners, who had him ever since he was a puppy, had to surrender Jasper to a shelter in Kansas due to ongoing health issues. Jasper was adopted by a military family in Kansas and after some time he came out to Idaho to visit his owner's relatives. Jasper's new owners knew they were going to have to find him a new forever home because they had their own medical issue arise. So, while they were here in Idaho a friend of a friend fell in love with Jasper and said he would give him a good home. Unfortunately, Jasper came to us as a stray and although we have tried our best to contact his new Idaho owner, all our efforts have been unsuccessful. According to his Kansas owner, Jasper is a sweet, loving boy. He is indifferent in regards to cats. He loves being around well behaved dogs. Jasper has been around little kids including a baby and he was wonderful. Jasper sleeps on a dog bed, knows the basic commands, and loves to play fetch. He drops the ball for you and if there is a ball nearby you can tell him to "bring it" and he will gladly get it for you! Are you ready to meet this loveable boy and give him a real forever home? Jasper is ready for you! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information Because we are an all-volunteer organization, please call ahead to schedule a time for a Meet & Greet so we can ensure a dog handler is available to show you the dog or dogs you are interested in. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
