Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois (short coat). Meet Norman, an adorable 4-month-old pup weighing in at just 15 pounds! Born in Ensenada to a German Shepherd mom and likely a Malinois dad, Norman was rescued off the streets by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan. He’s playful, smart, and already getting the hang of potty training—he heads out to the back patio to do his business like a champ. Norman gets along great with dogs of all sizes, from tiny Chihuahuas to medium-sized playmates. While he hasn’t lived with cats, his energetic personality suggests he might be a bit too much for a feline housemate. Norman is ready to find a loving home where he can keep learning, playing, and being the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. For a complete list of our pets and photos please visit our website fochp

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
