Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT youtu.be/3mxNPybZLTU Meet Bella! Bella is 2 years old, female (approx. DOB 5-29-23), 49 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. Bella arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender after her family's housing was condemned. She was saved on her last day at the shelter; her time was up. Ready to add a little goofy joy to your life? Bella assessed well with other dogs all sizes, is good with kids, appears to be house trained, walks well on a leash, loves to carry toys around, and loves to roll in the grass! Bella is a playful, bouncy girl who knows how to have a good time without forgetting her manners. She loves tug-of-war, a water hose, squeaky toys, and sniffy strolls. Treats? Yes, please! Bella already knows Sit, Lay Down, Wait, and Stay, and is always up for learning more. She can be a little shy at first but warms up fast, especially if you bring snacks and toys! The shelter described Bella as: Adventurous, athletic, enthusiastic, extroverted, goofy, playful, and quiet! Update from her foster family: "We had a absolutely amazing drive home from work, beach runs yesterday, lots and lots of play with her favorite toy, got to see the neighbors and give them loves and help her with watering the flowers, and cat watch (she failed miserably). She came home and for three hours straight Bella and Opal played- and is napping now Sunset walk coming soon… it’s going to be hard to send her off; I imagine like when a kid goes off the college She will need a home with another dog for sure, she is a social being despite her vocal conversations. But a family who’s active with another dog would be so good for her I hope she finds a home in the country because she loves it so much; she wants to be outdoors all the time, it’s her FAVORITE thing in the world. Does amazing with the two cats as well." If you are interested in adopting Bella please fill out an Application at .Passion-4-Paws (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks! Please note Fosters have 1st option of Adoption. Check out her Facebook page (please "Like" us while you are there)! Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
