Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT youtu.be/3mxNPybZLTU Meet Bella! Bella is 2 years old, female (approx. DOB 5-29-23), 49 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. Bella arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender after her family's housing was condemned. She was saved on her last day at the shelter; her time was up. “Meet Miss Bella Mae! Are you looking for a dog who can keep up on the trails and then out-snore you on the couch? Bella Mae is your girl. She’s a high-energy adventurer who thrives on 2–3 miles of walking or running daily, loves to hit the beach, and rolls in fresh grass like it’s her personal spa treatment. When the day winds down, she transforms into a full-on snuggle bug — we’re talking sprawled across you, as if she just can’t get close enough. Bonus: she snores loud enough to compete with you at night. Personality & Quirks Bella Mae is one-of-a-kind. Between her tiger-striped coat, unique prick ears with floppy tips, and her signature happy dance before meals, she’ll win you over instantly. She adores her “binky” (the Kong Wobbler), and her play style comes with a soundtrack — a mix of wolf-like howls, silly chatter, and “what even was that?” noises. It might sound wild, but it’s just her way of showing joy. She’s also a lawn connoisseur — if she finds a patch of really good grass, she’ll flop down and roll around like she’s admiring fine art. And food? Let’s just say she’s dramatic. She’ll devour peanut butter, cheese, bananas, and watermelon… but spit out carrots like they’ve personally offended her. Training & Skills Bella Mae is crate, house, and potty trained, only chews toys, and has already mastered sit, wait, stay, paw, and leash manners. She’s working on off-leash recall and learning not to counter-surf (an old habit from worrying about food scarcity), but she’s smart, eager, and loves to learn. The Perfect Match Bella Mae would thrive with an active family who loves the outdoors as much as she does — hikers, runners, and beach/lake walkers.....she’s ready for all of it. She’s done well with dogs after proper introductions, coexisted with cats, and has great potential with children, especially if little ones are taught healthy dog boundaries. At her core, she’s loyal, goofy, affectionate, and a little diva about her favorite things. Once she trusts you, she’s your ride-or-die, your hiking buddy, your cuddle partner, and your best friend for life! If you are interested in adopting Bella please fill out an Application at .Passion-4-Paws (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks! Please note Fosters have 1st option of Adoption. Check out her Facebook page (please "Like" us while you are there)! Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
