Courtesy Post | Apply with Tired Dog Rescue Mississippi Gulf Coast Meet Axel & Phyllis – a bonded pair of stunning Dobermans looking for a loving forever home. These two beautiful souls were the pride and joy of their late owner, who sadly passed away last October. Since then, they’ve been surrounded by love from extended family, but due to recent medical emergencies, their temporary caregiver is no longer able to continue caring for them. Axel is the big boy – approximately 7 years old and 140-150 pounds of well-mannered sweetness. He’s crate trained, house trained, and even went to obedience school when he was younger. Rhyllis is a lovely 4–5-year-old spayed female who weighs around 60–70 pounds. She’s gentle, loyal, and just as crate and house trained as her big brother. Both dogs are: • Spayed/neutered • Up to date on vaccinations • Have medical records on file at Beatline Oaks Vet They’ve been loved deeply, and it shows in their affectionate and calm demeanor. They deserve a home where they can stay together, continue to be spoiled, and help someone else feel the unconditional love they gave their grandpa. If you think you could be their next hero, please apply with Tired Dog Rescue or reach out for more info. Let’s give Axel and Rhyllis the safe and happy future they deserve.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
