This 2-year-old, 50 lb Australian Cattle Dog mix is looking for a forever home that will appreciate his big personality and even bigger heart. Chandler is the total package—handsome, smart, loyal, and just the right amount of goofy. He's neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. Chandler is crate trained, doing great with house manners, and loves spending time with his people. He’s an affectionate goofball who bonds hard and would love an active home where he can be included in your daily routine. When it comes to other dogs, Chandler is a bit selective. He’d prefer to be your one and only or share his space with a calm, submissive pup who respects his boundaries but is also willing to wrestle around at times. Already have a dog at home? A meet-and-greet is required before adoption to make sure it's a good fit! Looking to double the fun? Chandler’s current bestie, Toby, is also available for adoption through ACDRA and being fostered by the same person. They get along famously, and while adopting them together would be amazing, it’s not required. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick with personality to spare, Chandler might just be your guy. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
