Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed. Hi, I’m Lily – your future BFF and the hottest accessory you’ll need this summer! I’m a 3-year-old, 18lb curly little poodle mix with a heart as big as my tail wags. I’m social, sweet, and cuddly – the kind of girl who loves to greet everyone (and every dog!) at the park with a big smile. When I’m not making friends, you’ll find me carrying around my favorite stuffed llama, snuggling up for belly rubs, or going for walks where I strut my stuff like a superstar. I’m fully house-trained, super friendly, and a total lovebug. Loud noises and rainy days aren’t my fave, but a little reassurance and I’m all good. I’m working on perfecting my “no jumping when excited” skills – but can you blame me for wanting to say hi up close? My dream home? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
