Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Truffle (TX) is a male terrier-mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Truffle is 1 years old at the time of intake in January 2022. Truffle is good with people and other dogs. This sweet boy found himself homeless at a tender age of one years old. How could that be? He dreams of a home of his own with a family that will cherish him and provide him everything life has to offer. Truffle is a spirited Jack Russell Terrier with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. Full of energy and curiosity, he’s always up for adventure whether or exploring the backyard with his favorite humans.This little guy is great with kids and gets along well with other pets. He would thrive in an active household where he can run, play, and be his lively self.Despite his adventurous streak, Truffle is a total cuddle bug at heart. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
