Dog Breed: Shepherd / Collie / Mixed. Bear is a 13 year old, 88 pound majestic tri-color border collie mix. He was recently returned to CAWS because his family leaving the country and couldn’t take him. He recently had a dental where he got 23 teeth extracted so he's feeling so much better. He needs to lose about 20 pounds to get him to a healthy weight, and we have been seeing success so far. He is totally house trained, gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home, male and female, big and small. Bear is literally a stunning and overwhelming presence, not a mean bone in his body. He is now patiently waiting for an awesome forever family to make whatever time he has remaining the best years he could ever ask for. Bear has some arthritis, so he is on some medications to help with it but hopefully the more weight he loses, the less it becomes an issue. Bear just lounges in his open-door crate or on the living room carpet til he gets let out in the back yard. He rides wonderfully in the car, has his own fold up ramp so he can easily get in and out of the car. This magnificent gentleman just needs to find the home he can call his own, which he is so deserving of. Bear needs to go to a home with a back yard, a couple stairs max, preferably 2-legged people who work from home or are retired, but he can totally be trusted in the home alone. He will need occasional brushings or a spa day to stay beautiful. If you are looking for a glorious chap to be an unconditional friend, please make arrangements for a meet and greet. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100.
