Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Big Mama! This beautiful girl is a three-year-old mixed breed pup. She is fully grown at 77 pounds. Big Mama is the definition of gentle giant. She is such a sweet and loving companion. She is just missing the perfect family to share her wonderful personality with! Big Mama has a low to medium energy level. She is a laid-back pup who will play or hang out with any human or dog she meets. She really loves to hang out with people. With her low to medium energy level, she is a great mix of cuddle buddy and adventure partner! Big Mama gets along with everyone she meets—human (including children) or canine. She has not met cats yet. She is a calm and gentle girl who will take treats carefully from your hand. If taking your canine companion with you is your thing, Big Mama will be the first to jump into the car. She is ready anytime and will make a wonderful travel companion. She is one smart girl because Big Mama has already a master at her house, crate and leash training. She has worked hard and has accomplished her goals. It is important to remember that although Big Mama is housetrained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Our girl Big Mama is a gem of a dog in many ways. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
