Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Dax is a sweet, silly little guy who’s equal parts snuggle bug and playful pup. Sometimes, he’s so comfortable he naps with his tongue out! When Dax is making new friends, he is not shy—he’s very interested and always wants to play! He gets along well with dogs (though he will fight for the toys) and he adores children. Kids love Dax because of all his kisses and games of chase! He does not have experience with cats. He’s still working on his potty training—he's not grasping the concept of a "schedule" yet. He sleeps soundly in his crate and settles quickly when left alone, though he’ll let you know when he’s had enough crate time. Dax is a foodie boy but takes some time to work for what he wants. He is a great listener and always comes whenever called! Dax loves rope toys and squishy toys! Just a short walk or a little play and he’s out like a light. After a quick recharge, he’s ready for another round of play with his sister or anyone who has a rope toy. Dax is still very much a baby, so he’ll need continued training, structure, and lots of love. He listens well, comes when called, and thrives with gentle guidance. If you’re looking for a cuddly, outgoing, and downright lovable puppy to grow with your family, Dax might just be your perfect match. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
