Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. George is a fun-loving, energetic, and vocal puppy who always wants to be near his humans! He’s incredibly smart, food-motivated, and picks up on new things quickly. Like most puppies, he’s still learning the ropes—especially potty training—and currently uses pee pads and a pen setup. Though not yet crate-trained, George is showing promise and settles in his crate nicely with a long-lasting treat. He can be a bit vocal, but he’s managing alone time pretty well as long as he has something to chew. George had parvo early in life, so his socialization is a bit behind, but he's bouncing back strong and there's still plenty of time to help him thrive. He hasn’t had much interaction with other dogs or kids, so we’re still figuring out those dynamics. He cannot live with cats because he gets too excited around them. George is a high-energy pup who benefits from several short walks or active play sessions each day. He’s playful, loves chewing (especially on sticks), and his favorite game is tug—bonus points if you drag him around while playing! He’ll need continued training, socialization, and lots of patience—but with your time and commitment, George is sure to become a loyal and lovable companion. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
