Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Pennington County Humane Society 🐾 Meet Hilda - A Sweet Mystery Waiting to Unfold Hilda is a 1-year-old black-and-white terrier mix who came to us from RLRR. Not much is known about her past, and we're still learning about her personalitybut one thing's clear: she seems to really like kids and has a gentle, affectionate side. Her behavior is still being observed, so we're taking it slow and letting her show us who she is. She's recently spayed and is receiving medical care, including a course of doxycycline. She weighs around 40 lbsjust the right size for couch cuddles and backyard zoomies. She's available for foster-to-adopt, which means you can help her settle in while deciding if she's the perfect fit for your family. It's a great way to build trust and connection at her pace. Looking for a pup to grow with? Hilda's story is just beginningand you could be the one to help her write the next chapter. 📞 Contact Pennington County Humane Society at 218-681-8045 to learn more or schedule a meet-and-greet! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
