Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Patches – a sweet senior with a heart of gold! Patches is a 9.5-year-old gentleman who’s ready to enjoy his golden years with a family to call his own. This handsome boy came to us from a truly special place — a prison dog program in Louisiana, where he was brought in after being found as a stray. During his time there, he learned what it means to be a beloved pet: leash walking, socializing, and most importantly, how good it feels to be loved. At first, Patches can be quiet and a little unsure. But with time and gentle care, his sweet personality blossomed. He now confidently walks on a leash, wags his tail when he sees you, and leans in for pets (he might even nudge your hand or give you a kiss to ask for more). He sometimes gets so happy that he’ll gently jump up for face kisses — a true lovebug. Patches has been described as easygoing and gentle with everyone he meets. He really enjoys the companionship of another dog who wants to hang out rather than play, and he’s gotten along well with both large dogs and very small ones. Take a look at this video and another one of Patches ‘playing’. He’s a little afraid of cats, but coexists just fine with them. More than anything, he’s most at home simply hanging out with you in the yard, soaking up your company. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion with a heart full of gratitude and a lifetime of love still to give, Patches might just be your perfect match. Click here and here for a video of Patches. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Patches is from Louisiana. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
