Sadie #2 – Chocolate Female, 8 years, 95 lbs OK, I get it, not everyone is a chocolate lover. If a nice, sweet, oversized chunk of chocolate doesn’t sound decadent and lovely to you, just swipe right or scroll on by, whatever people are doing these days…But if you think a beautiful, velvety chunk of sweet chocolate sounds delightful, then let’s get to know each other better! Sadie is a fun loving, eager to please goofball who simply became the victim of good intentions. Her owner moved into a retirement home, other family members took her in, but they weren’t able to give her the time or attention she needed. She was relegated to a small back yard and fed – a lot. With little attention or exercise, Sadie weighed in at 101 pounds when she came into Lab Rescue. She is now on a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, and those extra chunks of chocolate are starting to melt away. Now Sadie is looking for her new forever family. One that will continue with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and all the attention she has been missing. She likes going for walks, swimming, and loves riding in the car, wherever life takes you, Sadie is ready to ride along! She likes to play with toys and will even play fetch for a short period of time, though she is not ball crazy. As with most labs, Sadie will benefit from an obedience refresher, but she is very good on a leash and well-mannered in the house (as with anyone on a diet, some counter surfing for random snacks may need to be addressed). If you are looking for that perfect addition to your family, one that will be by your side anytime, day or night, and is up for sharing your adventures, submit your online application for Sadie today. Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
