Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Mudpie, a three-year-old sweetheart whose name says it all! She arrived looking like a walking mud puddle, but underneath was a gorgeous girl with swirly brown fur, warm eyes, and a heart full of love. Mudpie is as sweet as pie, with a tail that never stops wagging, a love for snuggles, and a playful streak—especially when it comes to stuffed toys. She’s gentle with kids, friendly with other dogs, and always happy to be included, whether it’s a romp in the yard or curling up on the couch. She does have Lyme disease, which may require occasional medication during flare-ups, but it doesn’t slow her down one bit. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, and soulful companion, Mudpie is ready to roll right into your heart. MudPie's adoption fee is $125, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
