You must contact his foster mom Shelley at sjw60622gmail to meet Fuerte Fuerte (meaning strong in Spanish) was rescued off the streets of Tijuana dragging a 6 lb. chain around. He looks like maybe a shepherd, beagle, cattle dog mix?? He has the cutest freckles on his muzzle. He is around two years old and approximately 33 lbs, but could add a couple more as he's still a little skinny. He has had all of his vaccines and been fixed. He's calm, gentle, and devoted to his person once you gain his trust. He still gets nervous around new people and is looking for someone who will take it slow. He is learning how to be a good indoor dog and becoming a super cuddler. He is housebroken and is quickly picking up basic commands. He gets along well with other dogs, is playful, and loves balls and stuffed toys. He wants nothing more than pets and reassurance and a forever family to give him a second chance. Could that be you? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
