Meet Sweet Pea! True to her namesake, Sweet Pea has a sweet disposition and a vibrant personality. Sweet Pea is suspected to be a Shepherd mix and has a beautiful sable tricolor coat and soulful eyes. She enjoys meeting and living with all types of people - men, women, and children - as well as other pups! She is playful and responsive to corrections with all she has cohabitated with. Sweet Pea has a long list of great personality traits: she's affectionate, outgoing, intelligent, even-tempered, gentle, goofy, and eager to please. She keeps herself busy with her many hobbies, like playing with toys, playing fetch, going on walks or runs, digging, or playing with other pups (she likes chase, wrestling, and tug-o-war). Sweet Pea likes to balance her playtime with lap or cuddle time. Sweet Pea is housetrained and will bark in the crate at first but settles in! She is familiar with the leash but needs to practice a little more. She rides nicely in the car. Sweet Pea would make a great family companion, and is looking for a committed adopted who will continue working on these skills and the rest of her puppy education. We strongly recommend that all of our puppies attend obedience training to learn commands, develop confidence, and socialize with other dogs. Think this sweet girl may make the perfect addition to your family? Fill out an application to let her know! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
