Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. You can be my lucky penny and I can be your four-leaf clover, starting over... Clover could not have had a more perfect line written for her. She is indeed starting over with a whole new life in Illinois. When Clover arrived, she was completely shut down, malnourished and so so scared. But she continues to bloom and grow every day. Clover is still a shy dog, but she loves people and likes being around them. Because she is so shy, a house with a confident dog friend or two would be great. She needs someone to teach her how to "dog" in a house, because we're pretty sure she'd never lived inside before! Clover isn't comfortable around very small children, because, well, I think we know why...So a house with bigger or no kids would be best. Clover is going to need a fenced in yard, as she is working on putting on a leash and going outside. Her shy temperament almost makes her a special needs animal, but we're positive with the right house, she will continue to blossom into a great pet. What kind of dog is she, I hear you ask.. Great question! And one only you'll be able to answer when you adopt her and get a DNA test! Clover is likely a terrier mix. Maybe chihuahua! (Look at those ears!) Maybe whippet! (Look at that tail and lean body! She's like Santa's Little Helper, a Simpsons reference.) Or maybe she's part beagle! (Left ear up, right ear down, almost always! She weighs about 25 pounds and is likely full grown, so she's not very tall. Clover is a Scorpio, lol, she was probably born Oct/Nov of 2024. Apply to meet this sweet little mutt today! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
