Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Lovely Reda! If you are looking for a brave, smart, curious, resilient, loving, funny, mostly-gentle-but-occasionally-spicy little lady who likes to completely submerge herself in blankets at the foot of the bed, Reda may be the dog for you. If you are looking for a Chihuahua who likes being carried around and dressed up in seasonal outfits, Reda is probably *not* the dog for you. Reda is a mature woman with a rich, complex character and nobody's plaything. She is incredibly affectionate and loving and will greet you with the sweetest happy dance and follow you from room to room. She'll roll over and wiggle-waggle on her back asking for belly rubs. She loves to snuggle up against your leg on the couch and sigh happy little grunty sighs when you pet her. But don't go plucking her from her favorite fleecy blanket nest and expect her to be happy about it! Reda likes only gentle touch and doesn't appreciate sudden moves; in her perfect world, she would initiate all contact--and there would be a lot of it :) For this reason, a home with mature, dog-savvy children over ten and a calm atmosphere is best. Reda is mostly friendly and confident around our large resident dogs but would probably be happiest in a home with dogs closer to her petite size. Although she has to take it easy until her heartworm treatment is complete, she has the potential to become quite the explorer, as she grows more confident and curious on her walks with each passing day. She is quiet, well-behaved, rides beautifully in a crate in the car, and is perfectly potty trained, just as a grande dame would be. Reda will be a wonderful sidekick on adventures and the truest of companions at home on the couch. Is lovely Reda the one for you? Reda is from Texas. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and is available through our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian. Click Here to learn more about heartworm disease. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
