Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $250.00. Hi There! I'm Saffi, the sweetest senior you'll ever meet (or so I've been told). "Pure" is the meaning of my name, and my foster mom says it fits me perfectly. I'm an 8-year old maltese/terrier mix, but some days, I act a bit older. I would love a mellow doggy mate to keep me young. No one is a stranger to me, so I greet everyone with happy tail wags. During the day, I mostly chill in my indoor bed. But I adore being outside and love to go on walks or wander the perimeter of every yard or park I sniff or see. Once I get my greatly appreciated back scratch and ears rub, I'm content to walk away and confidently enjoy my own company. I'm house-trained, but not crate-trained. I'm a little hard of hearing, so a bit of caution is best. I'm not intimidated by dogs or kids and patiently wait for them to approach me. I prefer a lower-activity home where I know my caregivers are nearby. I'll make a loyal companion, especially if you take me for short walks in the grass. So if you want to sweeten your life, apply to adopt me, Saffi, at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
