Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application. Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions. **Meet Chance – Your Future Adventure Buddy!** Approx. 18 months old • 70 lbs (and growing!) • High Energy • Chance is a big, goofy, lovable pup with a heart as big as his paws. At about a year and a half old, he’s still very much in the “giant puppy” phase—full of energy, curiosity, and a deep love for his people. He’s been with his foster family for just two weeks and is already making huge strides. Chance lives with two older German Shepherds (ages 7 and 11) who tolerate his puppy antics, and he adores them both. He’s learning how to play appropriately, though he can get a little competitive during fetch—sometimes “stealing” the ball from his foster siblings. He loves toys, especially durable rubber balls and chews. Plush toys don’t stand a chance with Chance! This boy is *not* crate trained, but he uses a dog door to potty outside and has had very few accidents after the first week in his foster home. He’s extremely bonded to his foster dad and his girlfriend, and he thrives best when his people are nearby. For that reason, a work-from-home or stay-at-home situation would be ideal. Chance’s leash manners are still a work in progress—he’s all over the place right now—but he’s eager to learn. He will require **a lot** of daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy and balanced. This is not a dog who will be content with a short walk and a nap—he’s built for an active lifestyle and will flourish with an adopter who wants a true adventure companion. Currently, Chance weighs about 70 lbs but is nearly as tall as a Great Pyrenees in his foster home. He’s underweight and still growing—his foster dad suspects he’ll reach 85–100+ lbs at full maturity. Chance has already been groomed, neutered, and is ready to start the next chapter of his life. He’s affectionate, loyal, and will make an incredible best friend for the right person—someone ready for the joys (and challenges!) of a big, young, high-energy Shepherd. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and love you endlessly, Chance might just be the one. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrtreasurergmail .
