Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $425. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Chris Wood Sachi means happiness , fortune, and good luck. Are you the lucky adopter who will welcome this beautiful 5-year-old into your home? This is one amazing Malinois! She was brought in as a stray, but she is smitten with people and truly loves her freedom. Thus far, she does not have destructive tendencies in the house and absolutely LOVES to snuggle with her foster mom. Within a week and a half of arrival, Sachi knows sit, paw, place, free, and crate. Her leash manners continue to improve. Sachi is superb when passing other dogs on her walks, but she does show fear when approached too quickly by other dogs. We will be testing Sachi with other dogs her size though she passed her other dog evaluation at the shelter. She succeeds with parallel walks with the resident female Malinois as long as they are not right next to her. Her foster mom will continue to work on slowly closing the distance with other females (Sachi was recently spayed), and in the near future, Sachi will be tested with a male dog. She currently lives with a double-digit aged child and does very well. She has not, however, been tested with little humans. Her prey drive is such that she cannot be adopted out to a family with small critters or tiny-tot humans. ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
