Dog Breed: Pug / Chihuahua / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 550. Bennie is a goofy little guy with a big personality and a tongue that’s always sneaking out the side of his mouth. He came in as a stray—found when someone went out looking for a pig and came back with a pug instead. He wasn’t in the worst shape, but he was definitely underweight, had some patchy skin, and is heartworm positive. Still, none of that stopped him from being full of love and ready to make you laugh. Bennie thinks he’s a shoulder pug and will happily climb you like a jungle gym if you let him. He’s affectionate, full of kisses, and absolutely convinced there’s no such thing as too close. He hasn’t been around kids or cats in his foster home, but he’s generally good-natured—just maybe a bit much for small kids who value their personal space. He loves toys, loves attention, and definitely loves mealtime (even if you’re always taking too long to serve it, according to him). He barks to say good morning, and again when you get home—just letting you know he’s ready for love and snacks. He gets distracted playing with the other dogs and sometimes forgets to do his business, so he’ll need a little help staying on track with potty breaks. Bennie would enjoy having a dog buddy, but it’s not required. What he does need is someone who appreciates a silly, affectionate, talkative pug who’s happiest when he’s in your lap—or on your shoulder. Bennie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 08/22/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
