No known experience with cats, dogs, or children Not yet potty trained Shallot is a three-month-old sweetheart with a fun, playful personality and an endless supply of puppy enthusiasm. She’s still figuring out the ins and outs of life in a home, so she’ll need an adopter ready to help her learn with love and patience. With the right guidance, Shallot is sure to grow into a happy, well-mannered companion. Shallot is currently staying in a foster home. Please call the shelter at 920-674-2048 if you're interested in meeting her! Shallot has been waiting a while to find her family so her adopter can name their own adoption fee when they take her home! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
