Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (long coat). Meet Misu — a 36-pound sweetheart with a heart ready to heal. After her beloved owner passed away, Pearl found herself at a vet hospital, where our rescue was contacted to give her a second chance. She’s slowly learning that the world can be a safe, happy place and that meeting new people can be a wonderful thing. Misu is gentle and loving, and while she hasn’t had much experience with small children, she would do well with older, considerate kids who can respect her space. For now, she’d prefer to be the only dog in the home — she had a tough experience where another dog bit her, so she’s still building her confidence around other pups. She’s currently getting training to help her feel safe and comfortable again. Her perfect family will be patient, kind, and ready to show her that love is always worth trusting again. Could you be the happy ending Misu is waiting for?

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
