Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 550. Draco is a super sweet, affectionate boy who bonds deeply and loves with his whole heart. It took him less than a day to warm up in his foster home, and now he happily follows his foster mom everywhere. He’s submissive with other dogs and plays wonderfully with small pups, though he hasn’t been exposed to cats or dogs over 40 lbs. This gentle guy came to rescue as an owner surrender, leaving his world a bit upside down. As a result, he has some separation anxiety—he feels safest in his crate when his people are away, but if you’re home, he prefers to be in the same room and may cry if he’s not. With patience and consistency, he will continue to make progress and build confidence. Draco would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time—retirees, work-from-home families, or anyone who wants a devoted shadow. In return, he’ll gaze into your eyes as he drifts off to sleep and shower you with unconditional love Draco is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 8/22/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon . Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
