Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Pumpkin is a sweet, mellow little guy who’s happiest curled up next to his humans. At 10 weeks old and 14 lbs, he enjoys the company of his doggy siblings, he’s definitely more of a people-pup—his favorite place is right at your feet or in your arms, where he’ll give you the sweetest hugs. He’s still learning the ropes with potty training and hasn’t started crate training yet, but he’s eager to please so training should be a breeze. Pumpkin loves to make friends of all kinds, including dogs, cats, and kids! His foster family has all of the above so he makes a great family dog. Right now, Pumpkin is more of a lower-energy pup. He really loves his walks and playing in the yard, then settling into a nap with his people and chewing on bones. While a fenced yard is ideal, he could do just fine with regular walks and mental stimulation. If you’re looking for an adorable cuddlebug, Pumpkin might just be your perfect match! Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
