Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A SWEET BUNDLE OF ENERGY: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. Hello – I’m Ember! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so grateful they are going to help me on my journey to my new home. The volunteers see to it that I get lots of love, walks and attention and I can’t wait to share that love with my new family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a super sweet boy with a loving and happy demeanor. I was wonderful during my shelter bath and just wanted to offer up kisses and be loved. It was a nice break, which allowed me to find my ‘inner calm’, as the room I stay in can be loud and a bit overstimulating for me at times. I am super fun with GREAT jumping skills. In fact, I can jump so high, I should not be left unattended in the yard. Bounce, bounce and then I could be gone! My gentle, fun and active personality as well as sweet smiles are sure to melt your heart! / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a smart guy and have shown that I know the ‘sit’, stay’ and ‘come’ commands and respond to ‘leave it’ when I show too much interest in a passing dog. In fact - with my smarts and jumping skills - the volunteers think I would be a great agility dog candidate! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy being active with people and love a good play session with toys. My affectionate nature has me seeking out love in exchange for kisses and smiles. As mentioned, I am pretty agile, so I bet we both would enjoy fun agility-type training! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful family for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
