Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Hi there! My nameâs Griffin, and Iâm a good boy. At least thatâs what everyone keeps telling me! I love going on walks. The second I hear the jingle of my leash, Iâm at the door faster than you can say âwalkies!â Thereâs nothing better than sniffing every tree, chasing a leaf or two, and trotting along beside my human with my tail wagging like crazy. When Iâm not exploring the neighborhood, Iâm all about playtime. Squeaky toys? Yes. Tennis balls? Absolutely. Tug-of-war? Bring it on. Iâll even toss my toys around myself if no oneâs paying attention. I know a few tricks too! If you say âsit,â Iâll plop my butt down faster than you can blink. And if you hold out your hand and say âshake,â Iâll proudly offer my paw like a true gentleman. Just make sure youâve got a treat; I am highly treat-motivated, after all. Iâll do just about anything for one of those tasty little rewards. Lifeâs pretty great when youâre a dog like me!

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
