Meet Gertrude – Big Personality, Tiny Package If you’re looking for a huge personality wrapped up in a small, adorable frame, Gertrude (a.k.a. Gertie) could be your perfect match. This spunky, sassy little doll spends her days romping with her many toys, wrestling with dogs five times her size, or zooming around the yard at top speed. After all that excitement, she’s ready to transform into the sweetest snuggle bug at night, happily curling up for some much-needed rest. Gertie is still working on her potty training, but she does well when kept on a consistent schedule. She’s also a bit of a talker—always ready to alert you to the happenings outside—though we’re teaching her that not everything needs a bark. On leash, she can become reactive toward other dogs, so she’ll benefit from continued training in this area. She gets along well with our resident dogs and does best with older children who understand boundaries. Gertie does not want a home with cats. With her bold spirit, playful energy, and loving heart, Gertrude is ready to bring joy and laughter to her forever home. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
