Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Butch is a handsome 1-2 year old Belgian Malinois saved by an angel from days from euthanasia. Like many Malinois, misunderstood, by the kennel staff at a small shelter. The local angel advocated for him with MAD Rescue to the level of becoming his foster through MAD. Butch appears to have little training, but is food motivated. Loves treats. Will chase a toy and retrieve, but doesn't understand a chase/fetch game. He is a blank slate to mold and for an experienced handler who can provide structure, proper stimlation and exercise, and obedience. This boy is going to be a phenomenal companion. He is athletic, confident, and he is a love bug. He enjoys attention. He has been non-reactive to other dogs in the kennel and now that he is with a foster he will be exposed to various breeds of all sizes and possibly even a cat. If Butch sounds like your perfect dog, don't hesitate to apply for him today! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• If you would like to further inquire on this animal, please fill out this application. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
