Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Currently located at our Chrisney, IN location Meet Tasha! Tasha is a gentle and sweet Hound mix with a beautiful black and tan coat. This adult dog is a little on the shy side, but once she feels comfortable, she’s the definition of a loving companion. She’s looking for a quiet, peaceful home where she can relax and feel safe. Tasha’s perfect day includes some gentle pats, quiet time, and the security of being in a place where she can unwind and settle in. She’s a little timid at first, but with patience and kindness, she’ll become a loyal and affectionate friend. If you have a calm environment and are looking for a loving, low-maintenance companion to enjoy the quieter moments in life, Tasha would be thrilled to join your family. If you can offer a temporary foster home, please complete a foster application at ITVrescue. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated, if necessary.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
