Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. We got Lindy as a puppy from a local breeder, and he is almost 7 now. He is a sweet, spirited little guy. He is a little excitable but has gotten better about jumping and barking with consistent redirection. That said, he may do better with a family that has older children. He loves to cuddle and be a part of all our family activities. Lindy is one of the dogs for whom neutering did not help his marking. He marks often and in a wide variety of locations. I have always hoped we could work more with him to curb the behavior but we have less time than ever with two small children. We have tried training and belly bands. After speaking with a dog breeder, we also feel the smells from a previous owner's dog likely contribute to the issue. Currently, he uses belly bands but it can be difficult to manage that with two small kids and, again, we think our house is particularly triggering for him. If someone has the patience to work with him, a new environment without these smells/triggers could make him a wonderful dog for the right family. There is a reason it has taken us this long to come to the difficult decision to rehome him. **** Breed: Maltese **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2186390&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
