Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location: Bergen, NY Rocco is a sweet boy who loves being the center of attention! He loves to snuggle, and if you let him on the couch or in bed with you, he will automatically be your best friend. He loves to play tug of war with toys and rip their squeakers and fluff out. He also enjoys running around outside chasing the birds in the sky, squirrels up the trees, or bunnies under the fence. He has a high prey drive and would do best in a home with no small pets. He’s lived with another dog, but it’s the only dog he’s gotten along with. Would suggest being the only pet in the home, but could try a meet and greet. He’s approximately 7-8 years old, and has no health issues. Rocco is reactive when he’s being held back on leash and would thrive with someone who can work with him. He’s responded well to training in the past and would thrive with someone who can offer some structure/routine. He is highly food driven and will do just about anything for treats. We suggest a home with no small children as he doesn’t seem to care for them, or if they get attention over him. Rocco is truly a good and loving boy and he would make a great best friend to anyone in need of one! He is loyal and will always have your back. He will love you unconditionally. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
