Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Bella is the perfect mix of snuggly senior and curious explorer. At 10 years young and 44lbs, she still has a pep in her step, especially when there are new smells to sniff! She walks well on leash and doesn’t require a fenced yard, as long as her forever family promises her plenty of strolls and sniff sessions. This sweet girl adores belly rubs, tasty treats, and lounging nearby while you go about your day. She’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on attention, always happy to be your shadow. Bella also knows her manners—she can sit, give paw, and lay down like a pro (especially if snacks are involved!). Bella came to us after her elderly owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Now she’s ready to start her next chapter with someone who’ll cherish her golden years. She’s housetrained, does well with her foster dog siblings, and sleeps soundly in her crate (after voicing a short opinion about it!). We're not sure how she feels about cats or kids just yet. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who enjoys both lounging and light adventures, Bella might be the perfect fit. All she needs is a soft place to land and a heart to call home. Bella is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is available for adoption on or after 8-17-25 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144, KL 16182

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
