Dog Breed: Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Sophie! This pretty girl is just about perfect! Sophie is a very sweet small poodle with the loveliest personality. She loves all people, is great with other dogs and gets along with cats. She can be a bit timid at first but warms up quickly. Sweet Sophie came from extreme neglect and arrived emaciated and with a terrible skin condition. She is much better now but her skin needs ongoing care with specialized food. Sophie does not like being alone and will cry if she is by herself. She will do best in a home with another dog. Living with a dog friend really helps her confidence and separation anxiety. From her foster family: Sophie loves: • walking around the neighborhood. • following humans and pet siblings around the house 24/7. • napping near her humans. • treats! Very treat motivated. • being pet. • wagging her tail on full speed. A few quirks: • a little nervous in new situations so will benefit from patience and continuing to introduce her to new settings that will help build her confidence. For example, sometimes she’s scared of stairs and won’t use them unless you wait patiently and give lots of treats. • a little separation anxiety. She does well when left free to roam the house with our resident dog. Took awhile to build up to that so will require patience with her forever family to work up to being left home. • We’re exploring environmental allergies with her right now, which may require lifetime care to manage with medication and potentially skin ointment. Her first visit with the dermatologist was last week and they anticipated medication could be $100/month. Sophie is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.
