Dog Breed: Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Rannala is an adorable six-month-old female Shepherd mix (possibly with some Heeler) who's an absolute treasure with the most loving, affectionate personality you could ask for in a family companion. She loves curiously exploring the yard with her canine friends, splashing around in water, and enjoying outdoor adventures at the lake. While she may startle briefly at unfamiliar sounds, this sweet girl warms up quickly and shows her resilient, adaptable spirit. She's wonderful with people of all ages, including children, and gets along well with dogs and cats. Currently recovering from mange with some minor skin inflammation that's healing well, she's otherwise healthy and ready to thrive in a loving home. Having spent her early weeks in a shelter environment, many typical home activities are brand new experiences for Rannala. This playful love bug combines intelligence and energy with an irresistibly sweet temperament that will fill your home with joy. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
