Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Like staying at home? No problem for Cindy! She likes the simple things in life—slow sniffy strolls, lounging in the yard to watch the world go by, and curling up for belly rubs (she’ll even wrap her paw around your wrist to keep the pets coming). Her foster calls her “a little love bug, but slow to warm up and come out of her shell”—and once she feels safe, she’s happy to spend her days enjoying quiet companionship. Cindy is a giant couch potato who’s fully house-trained, quiet, and perfectly content to relax while you work or unwind. She’s still a little scared of the outside world and would do best in a calm, low-traffic home. She’s not a fan of other small dogs, and while she hasn’t met larger dogs in foster care, her foster says she seems “curious” about them on walks. Busy streets and loud noises like sirens can be overwhelming, so she’s ideally suited for a quieter neighborhood. Cindy Lou Who came to PAWS with an injured paw that has been treated. She also had hip (FHO) surgery to help her feel more comfortable. She may be prone to some arthritis and occasional limping, so her future family will need to provide follow-up care and help her stay comfortable as she gets older. Her foster says it best: “She is such a little diva, but she really loves having a person. I think whoever adopts her will be her world.” If you’re looking for a low-key, affectionate companion who will happily share your couch (and your heart), with a little patience, Cindy Lou Who is ready to make herself right at home. Age: ~3 years old Animal ID#: A-179987 Weight: 7 lbs Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
