Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Misty! This adorable pittie-gal has recently weaned a litter of puppies and is ready to be someone’s baby herself. Misty can initially be reserved but with time and patience, warms up and is described as a snuggle bug. She has history of living with other dogs and cats. She spent some time in a foster home where, after a slow introduction, she coexisted nicely with the other three resident dogs as well as the dog-savvy cats. Food is Misty’s love language. According to her previous guardian, Misty does have the talent of opening fridges and cupboards on her own to help herself to a meal. Misty does thrive with a guardian who is home more often than not. Staff and volunteers have fallen in love with this sweet gal. Come on down to meet her and find out why! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
