Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Adventure lovers, meet Roma! Iâm a 2-year-old Cattle Dog mix who came in as a stray, and Iâve got the heart and energy of a true explorer. I love people, thrive at the beach, and could run through the sand for hours if youâd let me. Like many herding breeds, Iâve got energy to spare, so Iâll need a patient adopter who can help me decompress, adjust, and gain confidence at my own pace. I can be a little picky about my dog friends, but with the right tolerant pup, I could do just fine. If youâre active, patient, and ready for a loyal sidekick who will make every adventure brighter, I think we should meet.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
