Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. This sweet natured girl is in need of a new forever home. Maggie was originally rescued from the side of a highway by a dear family friend and has been deeply loved ever since. She’s a gentle soul who adores her hedgehog toys, loves ice cubes, is fully potty trained, and is up to date on all her vaccinations. She’s incredibly friendly, loves people, and would be perfectly content napping in bed all day with her humans. Maggie gets along with other dogs and kids. No cats. Is house trained. Has been spayed/neutered. Up to date on all vaccines. Very friendly with new people! Unfortunately, my sister recently moved into a small high-rise apartment in Tampa and Maggie is struggling to adjust to the limited space. On top of that, my sister’s new 12-hour hospital shifts mean Maggie is alone for long stretches, which has triggered separation anxiety. We know this is the right decision for Maggie’s well-being, but it’s incredibly hard. She deserves a home with more space—ideally a house—and a family who can give her the time, love, and comfort she thrives on. Maggie is currently in Chattanooga, TN and ready to meet her new family. If you or someone you know is looking for a loyal, loving, and well-trained companion, please reach out. She’s truly one of a kind." **** Breed: Beagle/Blue Heeler Mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2186309&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
