Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. Maggie is a sweet 5-year-old Schnauzer/Yorkie mix who weighs in at a perfect 28 lbs. Maggie is a resilient and loving pup ready for her forever home. Maggie is good with other calm dogs. She’s all about matching energy—if they’re chill, she’s chill! While Maggie does have a bit of a fear of being picked up, she is perfectly comfortable jumping in and out of cars, so travel will be no issue. Initially, she may be a bit shy around men, especially their voices, but once she’s comfortable, she warms right up. If there's a thunderstorm, you can find Maggie hiding under a bed or table until it passes. Maggie is looking for a family that understands her past and will offer her the stability and love she truly deserves. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with a bit of a cautious but sweet nature, Maggie just might be your perfect match. Maggie is house trained as well!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
