Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. ‘GNR’ THEMED PUPPY: Approx. 3 months old / Approx. 14 lbs. & growing Hi, my name is Axl! My sibling and I found our way to Mostly Mutts through a Good Samaritan, and we are both so grateful to be getting all the love and attention pups deserve while we wait on our new families to find us. I’m ready to make great memories in a home of my very own, so plan to meet me soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I reportedly liked the dogs I met in my temporary home, and I love my sibling. I would likely enjoy another dog to play with in my new home if you have a nice doggie that would like a puppy friend, so let’s meet! / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I haven’t met kids yet while with Mostly Mutts, but my temporary family said I liked the children I met while with them (though I don’t remember their ages). So, if you have kids that will be gentle with me, let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, young pup who is as cute as I am playful! Though a puppy, I have a calm and gentle spirit and that – along with my adorable doe eyes – is sure to melt your heart. I’m a truly affectionate cuddle bug who is sure to bring lots of joy to my new family! / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘place’ commands, and I look forward to learning more. I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – so get ready for some training with your new best friend! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I will need you to help me with my potty training, as I’m still a puppy and have been having lots of accidents on the shelter schedule. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I really like to play and always have a blast when the volunteers bring out the toys. Don’t worry – when those play sessions are over, I am ready to recharge my batteries with a great snuggle session. One minute I am snuggling into my towel after my bath, the next I am displaying my fun, puppy energy. I’m a ‘best of both worlds’ kinda guy! / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
